Century-old Toledo church cutting services: For more than 100 years, Saint Hedwig Catholic Church has stood ground in the city of Toledo, but now the church is reorganizing and says it will only hold special events.

URGENT BREAKING NEWS!
At Masses this Sunday, Father Joseph Poggemeyer, the pastor of Saints Adalbert and Hedwig Parish in Toledo, Ohio announced that effective September 1 Saint Hedwig Catholic Church will be closed. The church will only be open for funerals and weddings. This is after United North (a local company) has agreed to purchase the former school and convent buildings to purchase and use as assisted living facilities. The church was slated to close two years ago when he first arrived as pastor, however, due to an upsurge of parish support the church was able to remain open. Father Poggemeyer is also the pastor of St. Joseph Church on Erie Street in downtown Toledo. Saint Hedwig is one of the oldest churches in the Diocese of Toledo and home to the Toledo and northwest Ohio Polish population. We pray for Saint Hedwig to intercede for us!
